The Night Flier premiered on HBO in the US on November 7, 1997. It is based on the 1988 short story of the same name by Stephen King, and follows a news reporter who begins to suspect that a serial killer pilot traveling between small airports is actually a vampire.
It was filmed in North Carolina around Wilmington. I’ll confess I never saw this movie until I was planning a Stephen King-themed trip to Wilmington, but I really enjoyed it. Many of the locations are airport runways, which don’t really make for great accessible locations, but I still managed to do okay.
Other Stephen King movies filmed in the area include Silver Bullet, Firestarter, Maximum Overdrive, and Cat’s Eye.

A local Facebook group helped me find this location. This store was formerly called The Country Store. It was in disrepair for years, but has recently been renovated and was listed for rent at the time of my visit.

I was able to find this thanks to the “BRINSON” sign on the top left of the screenshot. There is a wonderful store called Whatever Wilmington right here that has a large selection of horror DVDs, VHS, and collectibles.
