THE RAGE: CARRIE 2 (1999)

The Rage: Carrie 2 was released on March 12, 1999. Carrie’s half-sister Rachel is also a high school outcast, and sure enough, she’s telekinetic too. And yes, the popular kids do something horrible to her and she does something equally horrible (and cool) in return. I’ve always enjoyed this movie, and so when I heard about an On Set Cinema event watching it at the actual party house, I jumped at the chance.

I tried to find as many of the other locations as I could. The school was easy as it was listed online, but the others ones were actually pretty tricky.

The ruins of the high school that Carrie destroyed back in 1976 (and that are for some reason still just sitting there) were the main location I wanted to find. I read that it was filmed at a textile mill that had recently burned down, and I finally tracked it down to Arcade Mill in Rock Hill, South Carolina. I was able to find a PDF that contained some photos that I was able to match up to screenshots. It has been torn down completely except for one chimney and is now a redeveloped neighborhood.

I also thought that the small town main street where Rachel works at the photo/film development booth would be an easy find, but I was not able to locate it before my original trip in 2021. I finally tracked it down to Chester, South Carolina and I made a stop by when I was in the area in May 2025.

I still have not been able to find Rachel’s childhood home seen in the opening or her foster parents’ house. Any ideas?

Thanks for reading, everybody. Hope you enjoy!

Arcade Mill was destroyed by fire in 1996. All that remains is one brick chimney. The area has been developed into a new neighborhood and the site of the mill is a field now. The 2nd & 3rd comparison pictures below were made using photos I found in a PDF showing older photos of the mill ruins. I cannot find that link again to share it here, so if anyone stumbles across it, I would greatly appreciate it!

I attended the On Set Cinema event here which included a screening of the movie underneath the garage area seen in the movie.

I really thought this would be a much easier find than it was. I believe I finally found it by reverse image searching screenshots and finding the big brick building.

  1. It was a blast being on set on this film. I’m the kid in the 5th photo (behind Emily Bergl) with the surprised look on his face and a light blue shirt on. Good times. Was nice to be young.
