I thought the first ‘The Strangers’ was spectacularly scary, a really chilling home invasion movie that felt entirely plausible. The Strangers themselves instantly became favorite villains of mine, and I eagerly awaited the sequel that was announced just a few months after the first movie released in 2008. I kept up with every update and cancellation (and there were many), I read the script that leaked online, I. Wanted. This. Movie. Fast forward ten years and it finally became a reality.
‘Prey at Night’ wasn’t one bit as terrifying as the first, but I loved it just as much. They made an honest-to-God 80s style slasher, and not just one that was set in the 80s or referenced the 80s… no, this one actually FELT like a Friday the 13th sequel in the best way possible. Those zooms, the music, the entire vibe, it was just perfection. And to top it off, I thought they really got the Strangers themselves exactly right. They were just as creepy and motive-less as before, and the trailer park setting was a really fantastic idea that allowed for a home invasion feel while still giving the Strangers a much larger playground to terrorize.

Davis Lane Bridge was closed in August of 2019 and had been removed by early 2020. The new bridge is located slightly to the left of the original (if you are looking at the Gatlin Lake Getaway sign), so it no longer lines up nicely for photos, though I did my best with the new one anyway. The first picture is taken from roughly where the original bridge would be.

This location was pretty interesting to me. It used to be a subdivision full of houses, but all of them except for two were purchased and torn down in the mid-90s by Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Intl. Airport. To make the trailer park set, they just hauled in some trailers and set them up on the empty lots and made gravel driveways.

The scene where Kinsey fights off the Man in the Mask in the back of the pickup truck was also filmed in here.
