The Last Exorcism was released to theaters on August 27, 2010. It was filmed in the greater New Orleans area, mostly in St. Bernard Parish. It follows Reverend Cotton Marcus, who performs fake exorcisms on individuals who believe they are possessed. He doesn’t believe in them himself, but he figures it will help. Of course, he encounters more than he bargained for when he visits the Sweetzer farmhouse to exorcise daughter Nell.
It’s filmed in the found footage style, which doesn’t always make for the best location shots, although they do actually include some establishing shots in this one! Most of the locations are fairly close together, and if you travel from the motel to the Sweetzer farmhouse, you really do pass most of the locations they pass in the movie. I’ve included more notes about that below each location.
Movie Location: Cotton’s House

There is a brief shot of the house number in the movie which allowed me to find this house!

Movie Location: Cotton’s Church
Filming Location: 1520 Chickasaw Ave., Metairie, LA 70005

This is about a mile from the filming location for Cotton’s house.

Movie Location: Sweetzer Farm
Filming Location: 1800 Bayou Rd., St. Bernard, LA 70085

This property is known as Creedmoor Plantation. They only show the back of the house in the movie, and it’s private property so I was not able to get a matching shot.

Movie Location: Sweetzer Family’s Church
Filming Location: 111 Bethlehem Lane, Braithwaite, LA 70040
Date of Photos: May 2024
This is about 12 miles from the Sweetzer farmhouse filming location.

Movie Location: Motel
Filming Location: 5353 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA 70043
Date of Photos: May 2024
This motel is the Marina Inn & Suites. Cotton stayed in room 249, which I was also able to stay in. The motel has been featured in numerous other movies & shows, including the upcoming movie Kinds of Kindness, Queen of the South, Bill and Ted Face the Music, and NCIS: New Orleans.

Movie Location: Riche’s Cafe / Bradley’s Pharmacy
Filming Location: 8115 E. St. Bernard Hwy., St. Bernard, LA 70085

The cafe that the minor character Logan works at, Riche’s Cafe, is now The Fish Shack, but Bradley’s Pharmacy right next door is still there! This is about 3 miles from the Sweetzer farmhouse filming location, and it’s right on the route from the motel to the farm.

Movie Location: Gas Station 1
Filming Location: 8001 W. St. Bernard Hwy C, Chalmette, LA 70043

Cotton & crew stop at this gas station, which I identified thanks to the Palms Truck Stop sign in the background. This is one of the few locations not actually on the route from the motel to the Sweetzer farm location. However, it is literally just around the corner from the house seen in the opening scene of The Last Exorcism: Part II.

Movie Location: Gas Station 2
Filming Location: 617 Bayou Rd., St. Bernard, LA 70085
Date of Photos: May 2024
There is not a great shot of this location, and it has had some changes since filming, so I did not get a matching shot. This is just up the road from the Sweetzer farm location. The second comparison picture is from Google Street View, showing the same vending machines out front.

Movie Location: Abandoned House Driving Scene 1
Filming Location: 2012 Bayou Rd., St. Bernard, LA 70085 (Demolished)

Unfortunately this old house is no longer there, but it is just about half a mile past the Sweetzer farm location. So, not actually on the route from the motel to the farm, but close enough.

Movie Location: Abandoned House Driving Scene 2
Filming Location: 5408 E. St. Bernard Hwy, Violet, LA 70092

These old houses aren’t there anymore either, but this is right on the route from the motel to the Sweetzer farm.

Movie Location: Abandoned Church Driving Scene
Filming Location: 6413 E. St. Bernard Hwy, Violet, LA 70092

This is about a mile from the previous location, also directly on the route from motel to the Sweetzer farm.

Wow!! This is amazing good job! One of my favorite movies
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed.
