The first time I went to Texas was in 2012 on a road trip, and though I managed to stop by the Hewitt house from the 2003 remake of TCM, I didn’t see any locations from the original. I always wanted to go back, and I finally did in 2019. I actually stayed at one of the cabins behind THE gas station from the movie, which I can’t recommend enough if you’re a fan. They also have a store inside with memorabilia, horror movies available to rent, and even a replica of the van sitting outside!

The Sawyer house is no longer in its original location, having been physically moved about 60 miles from Round Rock to Kingsland, TX. It currently is open as a restaurant called Grand Central Cafe. The rural property it originally sat on is now a tiny patch of land surrounded by highways, apartments, and other developments, but it is still recognizable to diehard fans.
